The Albanese Government is supporting the restoration and upgrade of the Gympie Civic Centre, providing $11 million of funding from the latest round of the $400 million Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program (rPPP).
The key civic and cultural facility has been closed since 2022 after extreme rainfall caused a record-breaking flood of 22.96m, the highest in the region since 1893.
Restoring and reopening this cultural hub will enable the region’s specialist performing arts venue to again host touring productions, improving access to cultural experiences for regional Queenslanders.
It will also again become the region’s premier civic venue, hosting citizenship ceremonies.
The investment will also deliver a new administration facility, providing office space and amenities for staff, performers and emergency services personnel.
This project will strengthen Gympie’s Civic and Cultural Precinct as a key community, economic and cultural hub for the region.
