Retired books become new treasure – Wollongong

Wollongong City Libraries is getting in early with a spring clean of books which have been retired from the collection. The good news is that you can claim a bargain by purchasing a pre-loved book by visiting your local library!

From Monday 3 July to Friday 15 July, Wollongong City Libraries is holding a Winter Book Sale at all library locations. Books for adults, young people and children are on sale, all for 50cents each and can be purchased with cash or card.

All proceeds will go to Friends of Wollongong City Libraries. The Friends of Wollongong City Libraries are an independent group who support and promote libraries as well as host regular events.

“Help us find a new home for an old book that offers well-spent hours of entertainment, inspiration, food for the soul or fascinating information,” Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.

“Winter is the best time of year to curl up with a good book. We’re encouraging everyone to escape the cold and find your next great read, or five.

“This is a real bargain and we’re expecting to sell out quickly. I suggest you make your way to your local library soon, to make the most of this opportunity. And if you can’t spare the 50cents, you can always borrow a book instead.”
