Revocation of stand down in Northern Region, QLD

A 29-year-old male constable from the Northern Region stood down from the Queensland Police Service last year has now been returned to duty.

The officer was subject of an investigation in relation to use of excessive force on a suspect in custody.

A charge of common assault preferred against the officer in the Cairns Magistrates Court previously resulted in a finding of not guilty. A disciplinary investigation has been conducted in relation to the alleged conduct.

The matter has now been finalised by way of the officer undertaking a Local Managerial Resolution Plan.

In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct.

This does not mean that the allegations against the officer have been substantiated.
