Rider over limit in Frankston

State Highway Patrol officers were left shaking their heads following an intercept in Frankston today.

Police first spotted the motorised scooter on Frankston-Dandenong Road when the flash of a Santa hat caught their eye around 2.20pm.

Officers intercepted the scooter and found the rider was wearing nothing on his head but a Santa hat and had a can of beer in the drink holder.

The 56-year-old disqualified driver was breath-tested and returned a positive alcohol reading of 0.089.

The scooter was impounded at a cost of $1042.40.

When the Frankston man finished speaking with police he demanded his spare can of beer from the scooter compartment before he stormed off.

It is expected the rider will be charged on summons with driving whilst disqualified, drink driving, using an unregistered motor vehicle and failing to wear an approved motorcycle helmet.
