Rideshare driver robbed at Hillcrest, South Australia

A man was arrested after a rideshare driver was allegedly assaulted and robbed of his wallet by a passenger at Hillcrest overnight.

Police were patrolling the Holden Hill area when they were flagged down by the victim on North East Road just after 1.30am on Tuesday 30 November. He reported being hit over the head with a bottle and had his wallet stolen from his car. The robbery occurred on Blacks Road, Hillcrest and the suspect was believed to still be in the area on foot.

The victim was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with a head injury.

Additional patrols attended and searched for the suspect, locating him on North East Road, Gilles Plains, near the police station.

The 25-year-old Windsor Gardens man was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 30 November.

Police called in Police Dog Rusty to try to find the victim’s wallet, but he was unsuccessful and the wallet has not yet been recovered. Anyone who finds it is asked to report it to the police assistance line on 131 444.
