Right to Die will become a Duty to Die

“Wednesday 19 June 2019 will be a black day in the state of Victoria as the Andrews’ Labor government’s euthanasia Act will be released upon the hapless people in that state” said Margaret Tighe, President of Right to Life Australia. Margaret Tighe said “Victoria will be only the sixteenth jurisdiction in the world to have legalised physician assisted suicide.”

She continued “In this they have totally ignored the events in those countries – like Holland, Belgium and Switzerland where patient killing is out of control.

The so-called right to die has become a “duty to die” with 431 people in Holland alone losing their lives without consent (last official figures).

“In Switzerland there has been a four-fold increase in doctor assisted suicide – since it was allowed there. Meanwhile Belgium is also heavily into physician assisted suicide.”

Mrs Tighe said “In 2015 the British Parliament overwhelmingly rejected – in a vote of 3 to 1 – the legalisation of euthanasia. In this they were influenced by the words of Professor Theo Boer of Holland – once an ardent advocate of the scheme – who said to MPs “don’t do it – it’s too dangerous.”

Ms Tighe concluded – “the Andrews’ government stands condemned in the strongest possible terms by embracing a principle of the life not worthy to be lived – this in the face of immense opposition from the overwhelming majority of doctors.”
