Eagle rock your way into 2024 with Townsville’s New Year’s Eve celebrations, including a free live performance headlined by Ross Wilson & The Peaceniks at Strand Park.
Townsville City Council’s New Year’s Eve celebrations will be held across The Strand, Riverway and Magnetic Island, with multiple chances to catch the fireworks.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said families would be able to enjoy early entertainment across the city.
“Gates open at 4pm at Strand Park and Riverway, with food trucks at both events,” Cr Greaney said.
“Free music will kick off from 4pm at Strand Park with local talent Sneaky Beats, followed by Australian artist Brittany Maggs at 6.30pm and Ross Wilson & The Peaceniks of Eagle Rock fame taking the stage at 10.30pm.
“You can also enjoy a free screening of DC League of Super Pets on the big screen at 6pm at Riverway.
“Families with little ones will be able to catch the 8pm fireworks at The Strand and Riverway, while The Strand and Nelly Bay will host a midnight display.
“I can’t wait to see the turnout at all three locations. I know just how much the Townsville community enjoys taking part in community events and I’m sure it’ll be a great night out for everyone involved.”
A range of food trucks catering to a variety of diets will be available on site at The Strand and Riverway, with accessible parking and facilities available at both locations.

Nelly Bay, Magnetic Island
- Welcome in the new year with a midnight fireworks display.
