Council is forewarning residents of Ocean Shores, New Brighton, and South Golden Beach about a 7-day road closure starting Monday 17 June at Orana Bridge (Ocean Shores/New Brighton) when works will get underway to renew the road surface.

Traffic management will be in place at Orana Bridge over the bridge section of Strand Avenue, which spans Marshall’s Creek, until 24 June 2024 – weather depending.

Detours require residents to use Brunswick Valley Way or the Pacific Highway and may add up to between 5 and 10 minutes to people’s journeys. Council is encouraging residents affected by the road closure to plan ahead.

There will be no pedestrian access across Orana Bridge during the closure.

“The community has been asking for repairs and upgrades to the condition of this bridge for a long-time and to ensure we get the works done as quickly as possible, we need to close the road for a number of days,” Council’s Director Infrastructure, Phil Holloway said.

“We apologise for the inconvenience, but we will be working as quickly as possible to deliver these bridge and road improvements for the wider community,” Mr Holloway said.

Council has contacted local bus companies and emergency services, as well as local schools and the weekly New Brighton Farmers Markets which will all be impacted by the road closure.
