Cairns Regional Council advises that the Cairns Esplanade will be closed to all traffic between Spence and Aplin streets from 5am on Tuesday 31 December until 4am on Wednesday 1 January to provide safety for all participants and visitors for the official New Year’s Eve celebrations.
There will also be no parking available on the Esplanade between Spence and Aplin streets during this time.
Residents and traders are asked to observe and obey traffic controllers and signs advising the changes to normal traffic conditions, and follow detours as sign posted.
Council appreciates the cooperation of road users and apologises for any inconvenience caused.
