Roadmap to COVIDSafe Australia

The Property Council of Australia has welcomed today’s release of the three-step roadmap to a COVIDSafe Australia which sets out clear progress towards the reopening and rebuilding of the Australian economy.

“Australians have made unprecedented economic and social sacrifices to get this point and I am sure will welcome this roadmap to getting our lives, our economy and our country back to a more normal state,” said Ken Morrison, Chief Executive of the Property Council of Australia.

“The three-step roadmap provides clear guidance on how we can get there and what we need to keep doing to sustain our terrific progress in flattening the curve,” Mr Morrison said.

A critical part of today’s roadmap announcement is the staged re-opening of business premises and workplaces, including the opportunity for Australians to start to return to offices.

“Property Council members are owners and managers of thousands of offices and workplaces around Australia, and are working actively to ensure our buildings are COVIDSafe with social distancing requirements, enhanced hygeine practices and safety measures being implemented to ensure workers feel safe to return,” Mr Morrison said.

“We are engaging closely with Government and key agencies like Safe Work Australia to work through a number of practical issues that have arisen and will influence the ability of businesses to return to their offices, safely and efficiently and with the confidence and support of their staff.

“Reactivating our CBDs and office buildings will be a vital step in restarting our economy with enormous flow-on effects for other sectors of the economy once people are moving around safely again,” Mr Morrison said.
