Robbery and dangerous driving charges at Mackay

An Andergrove man has been charged following an string of stealing offences in Mackay between April 19 and June 12.

Police will allege during that period, the Andergrove man had broken into homes, stolen cars, stolen petrol and other property.

In the early hours of June 12, the man was allegedly sighted in a stolen vehicle on Bridge Road in West Mackay. The vehicle was travelling slowly and stopped in Streeter Avenue.

The man ran from the vehicle and after a short foot chase was located and arrested in the rear yard of a Streeter Avenue home.

The 29-year-old man was subsequently charged with multiple serious offences including seven counts of unlawful use of motor vehicles; six counts each of stealing, fraud and burglary; two dangerous driving charges; and one count each of tainted property, evade police and possess dangerous drug. The 29-year-old is due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on June 14.
