Robbery And Fraud Charges At Toowoomba

Two women have been charged following the alleged robbery and assault of a 66-year-old man in Toowoomba City on 2 October.

Police will allege the man was walking along Russell Street shortly after 5.10pm when he was approached from behind by two women near the intersection of Ruthven Street.

It will be alleged the man was pushed to the ground and struck his head before the pair stole his wallet and mobile phone.

The man then wrestled with one of the women, who allegedly dropped the phone before both women fled the area.

The North Toowoomba man sustained minor injuries during the incident.

Following investigations, police located two women at an address in Harristown later that day, where they were arrested.

Police will further allege the pair also used the man’s bank card to make fraudulent purchases at a number of local businesses.

A 36-year-old Harristown woman has been charged with one count of robbery in company and seven counts of fraud.

A second 36-year-old Harristown woman has been charged with one count of robbery in company and three counts of fraud.

Both women are due to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on 26 October.
