Robbery with violence charge at Harristown, QLD

A man has been charged following investigations into a violent incident at Harristown overnight.

Shortly after 12am a 20-year-old man was a a Drayton Road property when he observed a man trying to steal a Mitsubishi Triton utility in the backyard.

He confronted the man and attempted to stop him stealing the ute when it alleged they became involved ina physical altecation.

A short time later another man entered the yard where it will be alleged he kicked the 20-year-old to the right hand side of the face causing him to fall backwards.

One of the men have then producted a knife and waved it towards the victim.

The men then fled in the stolen vehicle along Drayton Road, west into Buckland Street and south into Martin Place where the ute later located damaged.

One of the men, a 20-year-old from East Lismore, has since been arrested and charged with one count each of armed robbery, wilful damage and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He is expected to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The 20-year-old victim sustained lacerations, swelling and bruising to his face.
