Robert East and Megan Dalley Awards 2023

Kiama Council

Meet the gardeners - Jason and Ben

Kiama Council is marking Local Government Week (31 July – 6 August) by asking our community to help us recognise the important work done by our council volunteers and trainees.

Nominations are now open for the Robert East Award and Megan Dalley Award, which recognise the efforts of one of our volunteers and trainees respectively.

CEO Jane Stroud said Kiama Council, as a small, community-based council, relied on the support of volunteers across our wide range of services and programs on a day-to-day basis.

“Our fantastic volunteers do everything from driving our Blue Haven community transport buses to supporting activities at Kiama Library and SENTRAL Youth Services.”

Ms Stroud also said as the municipality’s largest employer, Council was proud of its role providing traineeships, as a career pathway for younger people.

“We have been fortunate to have so many talented young people begin their working lives with Kiama Council as trainees.”

“This allows them to develop the skills and gain the experience for them to go on to bigger and better things, either with Kiama Council or further afield.”

“I ask everyone who lives and works in this great place to consider those Council trainees and volunteers they know and nominate them for one of these awards.”
