Hundreds of Australian Caravan Club (ACC) members are set to descend on Rockhampton next year after Rockhampton Regional Council successfully lured yet another major national event – the ACC National Muster.

The Rockhampton Showgrounds will stage the Muster from 18-25 October, which will see hundreds of thousands of dollars injected into the local economy as more than 200 caravans and 350 people travel from across the country.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said she is proud to see Rockhampton chosen as the location.

“Council is thrilled to have attracted the 2020 ACC National Muster which is another fantastic event that fits perfectly into our events and tourism agenda and our ambition to bring more national events to the Region,” Mayor Strelow said.

“The Showgrounds is the perfect venue for the Muster with plenty of space and amenities along with our riverside, CBD and heritage attractions all within walking distance.

“It’s great to see the Muster showcasing the regions of Australia, and I am sure that many of our local businesses will benefit from their weeklong stay as members explore and enjoy our Region.”

ACC National Chairman Craig Humphrey said the National Muster is the showcase event of the Australian Caravan Club.

“It is the event that attracts the greatest number of our Club members to a region in Australia. While in the region, our members will not only visit attractions and sightsee, they will also significantly boost its economy during the duration of the event,” Mr Humphrey said.

The ACC has over 4,500 members mainly in the over 55 age group in 54 branches at various locations around Australia, from Cairns to Perth including Tasmania. Previous National Musters have contributed over $250,000 to the local community.

Rockhampton resident and National Muster Coordinator Mary Benney will work closely with Council’s Advance Rockhampton team over the next 12 months in preparation for the event.

“With the assistance of Advance Rockhampton, we will develop a wonderful program that will tour the Region’s natural attractions, from Mount Morgan, Gracemere to Mount Archer, the beautiful homesteads and all of the history that sets Rockhampton apart,” Mrs Benney said.

“We have no doubt that all of these sites will be very well appreciated and enjoyed by those who join our 2020 Muster.”
