Rocky recycling paves road ahead

Roads in the Rockhampton Region are seeing a second life thanks to an innovative recycling program implemented by Council’s Civil Ops team.

Chair of Council’s Infrastructure Committee Councillor Tony Williams said the program has attracted attention across the state.

“At Dale Park – the powerful recycling site our Civil Ops team has developed – we are able to recycle the ‘dirty’ materials we’re digging up on infrastructure upgrades across the region, and produce about ten ‘clean’ materials that can be used on all kinds of projects,” said Cr Williams.

“This means that the material coming in from work sites across the region could end up sealing roads in Mount Morgan, paving parking lots in the CBD, or being used on landscaping projects in Gracemere.
