Roxy Site Tours Set to Resume on Monday, 23 October 2023

Leeton Shire Council

Leeton Shire Council is pleased to announce the resumption of the Roxy Community Theatre site tours, commencing on Monday, 23 October 2023.

These tours, providing an exclusive look ‘behind the curtain’ of the Roxy Redevelopment project, will be held fortnightly on Mondays, offering the community a unique opportunity to witness the transformation of our iconic theatre.

Roxy Project Director Katherine Herrmann is thrilled to invite the community back to the Roxy Community Theatre site to witness the progress Council has made since assuming the role of Principal.

“To ensure the safety of all participants, community members are reminded that these tours are open to adults only. Unfortunately, children cannot be accommodated due to safety and insurance requirements. Additionally, for everyone’s safety, closed-toed shoes must be worn during the tours. Hi-vis vests and hard hats will be provided on site. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we continue to make the redeveloped Roxy Community Theatre a reality for our community,” she said.

Deputy Mayor and Portfolio Lead for Arts & Culture, Cr Michael Kidd, encourages the community to take advantage of this opportunity, stating, “The Roxy Community Theatre holds immense historical and cultural significance for Leeton. Allowing our community members to gain insight into the complex build process not only fosters a sense of ownership but also strengthens the bond between the theatre and its patrons.”

The site tours will go for approximately 15 minutes and cover the main auditorium, foyer and outdoor area where the Movie Café used to be located. Visitors will be able to ask questions and take home copies of plans and designs of the Roxy Community Theatre.

As spots are limited to 6 people at a time, interested participants need to book in advance via Calendly or by phoning Council on (02) 6953 0911.
