Ruby Oberin awarded Nancy Millis Bursary

Congratulations to PhD student Ruby Oberin who has been awarded the 2021 Nancy Millis Bursary from Graduate Women Victoria.

Ruby, a student in the Germ Cell Development and Epigenetics research group, said the scholarship would help support her through the continuation of her studies.

“It is an honour to receive this award and I am incredibly thankful to Graduate Women Victoria, the late Nancy Millis and the donors,” Ruby said.

“It is incredibly important to empower, strengthen and celebrate women through their graduate research journeys. Attending the Graduate Women Victoria 2021 virtual awards ceremony was an emotional and moving experience, and I would like to congratulate all of the other award winners.”

The Nancy Millis Bursary is awarded to a scientist who has overcome challenges throughout the pursuit of their studies. The award is named after Emeritus Professor Nancy Millis, who was a pioneer in the study of fermentation technology in Australia.
