To mark the Herald Sun/Transurban Run for the Kids 21st anniversary in 2027, runners will be introduced to a new, 21-kilometre endurance course – a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to race across Melbourne’s skyline while raising vital funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
Transurban has also officially inked a five-year partnership extension, securing the future of this iconic event and continuing our shared mission to support Victorian children and their families.
A new 21km skyline challenge
Capped at 3,000 runners, the new 21-kilometre course takes participants across the elevated motorway above Footscray Road, alongside the iconic Bolte Bridge and Domain Tunnel for spectacular, uninterrupted skyline views.
The distance joins the family-friendly 4.7-kilometre and popular 14.4-kilometre routes, ensuring an option for every pace and ability to run, walk, roll, or stroll.
Backing Victorian kids for another five years
Over the past two decades, participants have raised more than $25 million for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. Transurban’s five-year partnership extension ensures this vital community tradition continues to thrive.
Transurban Chief Executive Officer Michelle Jablko said the milestone highlights a lasting commitment to Melbourne and the community:
“We are delighted to extend our support of this event for another five years. Next year marks its 21st anniversary and will continue to raise vital funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
We’re also excited to create this unique opportunity for participants to run on our roads, opening the event up to a whole new field of runners across the elevated motorway above Footscray Road, alongside the Bolte Bridge and Domain Tunnel.”
