Runaway roosters rescued by rangers

The runaway roosters on the fly in Wagga Wagga’s central area earlier this week are now being cared for in residence at Glenfield Road Animal Shelter.

The three stooges – aptly named Larry, Curly and Moe – had moved in to the front yard of a Beckwith Street home when Wagga Wagga City Council rangers came to the rescue.

Rangers caught the birds and relocated them to the shelter where they will stay for at least seven days whilst inquiries into locating their owners are made.

Animal welfare officers at the shelter will find a new home for the roosters if their owner cannot be located.

“We attended the house to detain some cheeky roosters who were having a great time roaming and scratching around,” Council ranger Lesley Thompson said.

“The first rooster was a little slow and was no problem, but the two others proved to be a little more challenging.

“With some perseverance we managed to safely capture the pesky birds and they were transported to the Glenfield Road Animal Shelter for some five star accommodation.”
