Runners put best foot forward to support Carinity Wahroonga

Social runners from Yeppoon have hashed out a plan to support vulnerable young people.

Local running group, the Cutlery Hash House Harriers, is putting its best foot forward to raise money for the Carinity Wahroonga counselling service in Rockhampton.

The Cutlery Hash House Harriers will be raising money for the Carinity Wahroonga youth counselling service on Saturday October 10.

Proceeds from Cutlery Hash House Harriers’ annual Red Dress Run through Yeppoon on Saturday October 10 will help Carinity Wahroonga provide counselling to young people in the child safety system.

The colourful runners will be setting off from the old railway station in James Street from 9am.

The fundraisers will be easy to spot: they will be wearing red dresses and running or walking through the streets, shaking donation cans and collecting coins as they visit eateries and hotels in town.

Group members also plan to journey down ANZAC Parade to visit the town’s sailing clubs.

All donations received will help Carinity Wahroonga’s counsellors support children who have experienced abuse, trauma, neglect or family violence.

Carinity Wahroonga Program Coordinator, Sharyn Tengbom, thanked Cutlery Hash House Harriers for supporting vulnerable young people in the region.

She said the running group had engaged in a charity partnership with Carinity Wahroonga numerous times over the years.

“We are so grateful to the Cutlery Hash House Harriers for choosing us as their charity partner for the 2026 Red Dress Run,” Sharyn said.

“Money raised by this wonderful initiative will enable Wahroonga to provide free counselling to more young people, including children who have been affected by trauma, abuse, or family violence.”
