SA Police Band leading March to Walk A Mile

The Band of the South Australia Police led the parade in the Hutt Street Centre’s Walk A Mile in My Boots event this morning.

Starting from Victoria Park Racecourse to the south parklands, about 5000 people attended the walk to raise awareness for homelessness.

The event beanies helped keep the band warm in the cold conditions as they continued to play until they reached the finish line.

Participants kept themselves warm by dancing along to tunes such as “That’s a Plenty” and “The Man From Gundagai”

The annual event calls on South Australians to show their support for people facing homelessness by joining the Hutt Street Centre to experience what it is like on a cold, winter’s morning to walk one mile to find something to eat, a hot cup of tea or coffee, and a friendly face.
