TheTerritory Labor Government has delivered a key election commitment, withconstruction complete on the $30 million, state-of-the-art Palmerston PoliceStation.
Thenew police station will become operational in early September and will serveresidents of Palmerston and the rural area for decades to come.
Themodern new three storey facility is twice the size of the existing Palmerston stationand will cater for 200 staff on 24 hour rotating shifts.
Itincludes a 24 hour watch house, which will enhance response times forPalmerston police, who will no longer have to travel to Darwin to processoffenders.
The$30 million project, built by Territory company Sitzler Pty Ltd, supported 340local jobs during construction.
Afamily open day will be held on site at the new station on Saturday, 31August, before it officially opens on Monday, 2 September.

Thisyear, we have also delivered on our commitment to deliver 75Police Auxiliary Liquor Inspectors, to help tackle alcohol-fuelledcrime, and we are on track to deliver and extra 120 additionalfront line police officers something the CLP promised butnever achieved.
Weare also rolling out our $8.35 million Back On Track: CuttingYouth Crime plan, the most extensive suite of measures put in place toaddress youth crime, which gives police and the courts the power to get kidsoff the streets and into programs like boot camps.
