In the Safer Residential Areas community consultation (2018) 77 per cent of all respondents felt vehicles travelled too fast through Dromana’s residential streets and around the town.
Mornington Peninsula Shire is addressing this community concern. Dromana residents will notice new speed limits in the following residential streets:

- Ligar Street 40 km/h
- James Street 40 km/h
- Spencer Avenue 40 km/h
- Watson Avenue 40 km/h
- Marcus Street 40 km/h
- Judith Street 40 km/h
- Noel Street 40 km/h
- Marna Street 40 km/h
- Solander Street 40 km/h

A new compact roundabout will be installed at Ligar Street/Codrington Street. The small roundabout will allow motorists to better anticipate the intersection and adjust their speed accordingly, reducing both the likelihood and severity of collisions at this site.
Compact roundabouts are cost-effective compared with a standard roundabout but have a strong impact on safety by reducing fatal and serious injury crashes by approximately 85 per cent.
Works are currently underway and will be completed by 15 July 2021.
This project will align with Victoria’s Towards Zero Road Safety strategy with infrastructure improvements allowing the intersection to operate as a ‘safe system’.
