Reports include callers using phone numbers linked to legitimate police stations, attempting to obtain personal, financial and cryptocurrency details.
WA Police will not:
- Ask for personal financial details
- Demand payment
- Direct people to transfer cryptocurrency or other assets
- Request remote access to devices
- Threaten a person with arrest
Scammers can alter phone numbers to appear as legitimate WA Police Stations to increase their credibility.
Protect yourself:
- Don’t Trust, Verify
- Hang up and contact organisations using official website numbers
- Never share personal or financial information
