Scholarships for First Nations nurses now open

The Australian College of Nursing (ACN) has opened applications for some of its most sought-after scholarships aimed at supporting First Nations nurses.

ACN believe all nurses are at the heart of safe, high-quality care. That’s why the Australian College of Nursing is committed to supporting nurses to advance their skills and scope of practice, feel connected, and be empowered to recognise their value as health care leaders.  

Scholarships available 

Graduate Certificate Scholarships for First Nations nurses, Sponsored by HESTA – two scholarships available for First Nations nurses to complete an ACN Graduate Certificate course of their choice, to commence in 2023. 

Graduate Certificate Nursing Scholarship, Sponsored by Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health – 20 scholarships available for registered nurses to undertake selected ACN Graduate Certificate courses including Cancer Nursing, Community and Primary Health Care Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Digital Health (NEW), Leadership and Management, Orthopaedic Nursing or Perioperative Nursing.  

Including, five scholarships available to First Nations nurses and five available to nurses working in rural and remote areas of Australia. 

Applications will be considered from applicants who are:

  • of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent

  • Applicants must identify as and be able to confirm their Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status.

  • enrolled or intending to enrol in an entry level or graduate entry level health related course

  • Courses must be provided by an Australian registered training organisation or university. Funding is not available for postgraduate study.

  • intending to study in the academic year that the scholarship is offered.
