Scholarships to increase early childhood teachers

Department of Education

Scholarships of up to $20,000 will soon be available for students to support their studies in Early Childhood Education.

The NSW Department of Education scholarship program will help increase the number of early childhood teachers in NSW and ensure children have access to high-quality early childhood education.

NSW Education Secretary Georgina Harrisson said this was a commitment to ensure ongoing support to a critical workforce.

“The Early Childhood Education Scholarships Program provides financial support to university students for the completion of early childhood teaching degrees,” said Ms Harrisson.

“More educators with degree qualifications gives more children access to the benefits of qualified teachers in their local service.”

The NSW Department of Education is the largest regulator nationally with over 5,800 early childhood education and care services in NSW that fall in scope of the National Quality Framework and state legislation.

Applicants wishing to complete an early childhood education teaching qualification will be able to apply for the scholarship from 6 October 2021 via the Department of Education’s website and do not need to be currently working in the education sector.
