Scooter rider critical after Campbellfield hit-run

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses, CCTV and dash cam footage following a serious hit-run collision in Campbellfield this afternoon.

A 45-year-old Campbellfield man was crossing Campbell Street on his motorised scooter at 1pm.

A silver Holden Commodore crossed onto the wrong side of the road and struck the scooter before hitting a gutter and driving off, with the scooter stuck underneath.

The vehicle drove into the car park of the Campbellfield Cricket Club where they managed to dislodge the scooter.

It was last seen fleeing from the scene along Sydney Road, towards Barry Road.

The rider is fighting for life in hospital after being thrown several metres during the collision.

He was located unconscious on the side of the road by a passer-by who sought assistance.

The vehicle, a Holden Commodore sedan VE model manufactured between 2007-2013, investigators are searching for may have sustained damage to the front driver’s side during the collision.
