Scout groups based as far north as Kinross and as far south as Baldivis have benefitted in a share of almost $150,000 in funding.
Scout groups across Perth’s metropolitan area have shared in almost $150,000 funding.
The money forms part of the WA Government’s 2025 Election Commitment to support more than 130 different local government and community projects including new playgrounds, parks and facilities.
Hamersley Scout Group in the City of Stirling was one of nine scout groups to receive a funding boost, with $30,000 allocated to multiple projects. This included installing an air conditioning system in the Hamersley Scout Hall, new canoes and trailer, and camping equipment for hiking and group camps.
Wembley Downs Scout Group completed $10,000 of electrical and lighting upgrades last month – allowing night activities to take place in a safe and well-lit environment – while Amelia Heights Scouts Group benefited from $27,000 for air conditioning for their hall and a trailer.
Kinross Scout Group received a grant of $6,000 to purchase two gazebos to provide weather protection, in addition to four laptops to support members with their badgework. Warwick Scout Group received $14,000 to buy a car trailer, life jackets and hiking tents. Goollelal Greenwood Scout Group was funded $11,000 to purchase new equipment including marquees and teardrop banners to help with holding outdoor activities.
A further three Scout Groups – Baldivis, Bull Creek and Hampton Park – will complete their projects over the next 12 months. Baldivis Scout Group received $12,000 to purchase new tents, camp lighting, batteries, a gas bottle, eskies, gazebos, portable radio and food storage kit. Bull Creek Scout Group will receive $34,000 to upgrade their facilities and purchase abseiling and vertical activity equipment to expand its youth program opportunities. Hampton Park Scout Group in Morley received $5,000 to construct a Nature Play area and improve the surrounds of their hall.
Scouts WA programs offer volunteering opportunities and personal development through fun, engaging, physically challenging and mentally stimulating activities for young people, aged 5 to 25. Scouts WA has more than 4,000 members.
