The Marshall Liberal Government’s decision to waive liquor licence fees for this financial year is helping thousands of businesses and saving business owner’s millions of dollars.
New figures show the Budget measure is saving businesses a total of $3.5 million over this financial year, giving business owners much needed financial relief during the pandemic.
More than 5,500 local businesses are right now benefitting from this fee waiver, including restaurants, clubs, catering companies and bars.
“The Marshall Liberal Government is backing business at a time when they need it most,” Attorney-General Vickie Chapman said.
“It’s providing relief to those licensed venues that were forced to close, or to significantly curtail operations, during forced COVID-19 lockdowns.
“It will ensure they continue to thrive, and enable them to keep staff in jobs.”
Existing licensed venues have had their fees waived, if they hold any of the following licences;
- on premises (378),
- residential (207),
- restaurant and catering (1,608),
- club (1,336),
- liquor production and sales (1,678),
- or a small venue licence (130).
292 holders of a General and Hotel licence without a bottle shop attached received a full waiver, while those with a bottle shop attached have received reduced fees.
“If your business holds a different licence to those listed, but has been impacted by COVID-19, then I urge you to apply for a reduced fee,” Attorney-General Chapman said.
“We want to see our hospitality industry booming, and we will work closely with business owners to ensure that happens.
