Search for suspect after Elizabeth East break-in, South Australia

Police are searching for an armed man in the Elizabeth East area following a break-in this morning.

Just before 11am on Thursday 31 January, a man armed with a knife and a screwdriver forced open a side window of a house in Worthington Road.

Once inside the home the man stole a handbag, mobile phone and car keys, but he was confronted by the residents while trying to steal one of the home owner’s vehicles.

The male suspect described as Caucasian about 45-years-old and wearing a yellow his-vis top eventually walked from the home still with the handbag and mobile phone.

A search by police located some of the stolen property in a nearby street. Crime Scene officers have attended to examine the home for fingerprints and further evidence that may assist in identifying the suspect.

During the ordeal a man from the home received a small cut to the palm of his hand while preventing the suspect from stealing the car. The injury didn’t require hospital treatment.

Anyone with information on the incident or the suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
