Police are responding to reports a car was swept off a causeway on Sallaway Road at Galston yesterday.
A witness reported seeing a silver Mercedes being swept away between 4.30pm and 5pm (Sunday 9 February 2020).
The information was reported to Galston Rural Fire Service, who conducted inquiries, before contacting Police and SES.
Officers from Kuring-Gai Police Area Command and SES attended the location and conducted a search of the water by boat, but nothing was located.
Just after 8pm, Police Divers and specialist officers from the Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit attended to assist but were unable to complete a full underwater search due to the conditions.
It is expected a further search operation will be conducted as soon as conditions ease.
The community are urged to avoid the area and delay travel.
