Seasonal Comedy Galas back at Lennox for 2023: Ballina Shire

Seasonal Comedy Galas back at Lennox for 2023

The Summer Comedy Gala, featuring some of the favourite funny acts from over the country, kicks off at the Lennox Head Cultural Centre on Saturday 11 February 2023.

“We cannot wait to treat Lennox Head to some comedy superstars. This will be the best Gala yet. There are a number of local comedy shows around, but the chance to see six pro working comics, some of the best in Australia, all at the one gig is huge.” said John Peacock, Founder of the Comedy Commune.

Sean Woodland is MC. He is one of the country’s most sought-after club comics. Last week he headlined at The Comedy Store in Sydney, Australia’s premier comedy club.

Jenny Wynter brings improvised musical comedy to the stage. An award-winning cabaret and comedy performer, world-renowned and an extraordinary entertainer.

Chris Radburn is a former lawyer and award-winning international headline comedian who has performed at every major comedy festival in Australia. Chris has over 20 TV credits, including The Footy Show, Thursday Night Live, Sydney Comedy Festival Gala, The Comedy Channel, and was an international finalist in America’s Last Comic Standing.

Harry Jun is a Sydney-based comedian, host and cartoonist. He hosts the ABC Gamer’s The Loot Drop, a weekly gaming news show with hot takes, sketches and silly jokes. Harry started performing stand-up in 2017 and has performed at venues all over Australia, including the Sydney Comedy Store.

After taking out RAW Comedy in 2018, Bec Melrose placed in Edinburgh Fringe Festival’s ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ competition and was selected for the prestigious Comedy Zone showcase. Her debut solo hour opened to sell-out crowds, earning Bec a nomination for Best Comedy. Bec has appeared on ABC TV’s Question Everything, Comedy Up Late, and at the Sydney Comedy Festival Gala opening for Wil Anderson. Bec’s writing credits include ABC TV’s Gruen, The Weekly, Win the Week and Question Everything.

Duvvy Jester is a local from Nimbin, an effervescent force of nature making big waves on the small stage.

“We welcome the seasonal Comedy Gala back to the Lennox Head Cultural Centre for the second year, providing up-and-coming comedians the thrill of performing in front of a live audience alongside professional comedians in our 500-capacity auditorium” said Roberta O’Brien, Coordinator Community Facilities for Ballina Shire Council.

Doors will open at 6.30pm with bar and snacks onsite by Club Lennox. The show will start at 7.30pm. Tickets are $35 and selling fast. To book, visit communityspaces.com.au/tickets
