It is important to make the most of the remaining ryegrass season after a very wet and difficult start.

Livestock owners have been facing many challenges with livestock grazing because of high nitrogen prices, potential supply issues and ongoing wet soils.

Hunter Local Land Services is inviting livestock owners to come together on Wednesday 29 June for a field day at 23 Red Hill Lane Pola Creek to talk about these challenges and provide advice on how to overcome them. Dr Neil Moss-Scibus and Josh Hack will present as guest speakers to provide insight on several topics including:

  • Managing nitrogen costs – (current drops to around $1200 / T bulk for urea)
  • Adjusting return to cost expectations with higher beef and milk prices
  • Lack of quality fodder – importance to buy off feed test to knowing what your paying for
  • Forecasts for continued wet weather
  • Ensuring supply with uncertain world events
  • Getting the most out of ProGibb
  • Supplements – profit margins and mix considerations
  • Market trends
  • Use of liquid fertilizers

This field day will take place from 10am to 12pm and will include a light lunch. Spots are limited, so be sure to secure yours here
