Second man arrested in Queensland following aggravated home invasion in Donvale

Detectives from the Eastern Region Crime Squad with assistance from the Logan District Criminal Investigation Branch (Queensland Police Service) have arrested a second man following an aggravated home invasion which occurred in Donvale in June 2023.

This morning police arrested a 22-year-old Slacks Creek man after executing a warrant at a Waterford property in Queensland. He was charged with aggravated home invasion, two counts of false imprisonment, common law assault, and theft.

He appeared before Beenleigh Magistrates Court and an application for extradition to Victoria was granted. He was remanded and expected to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday 3 May.

Last week, police also arrested a 23-year-old man from Hoppers Crossing in relation to this incident. He was also charged with aggravated home invasion, false imprisonment, common law assault and theft. He appeared in court today and was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on 19 July.

The charges relate to an incident where a 65-year-old woman and a 67-year-old man were allegedly assaulted, threatened at knifepoint and tied up before their Donvale property was ransacked. High end jewellery and watches valued up to $160,000 were stolen. The offenders remained in the property for around an hour, demanding access to a safe.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing, with detectives believing a number of other people were involved.
