Arson and Explosives Squad detectives yesterday charged a second man following a five-month investigation into the large-scale trafficking of illegal fireworks via social media.
A 34-year-old Craigieburn man was charged on Wednesday afternoon with a range of offences, including possess explosives.
He was bailed to face Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 2 September.
A 39-year-old Brunswick East man was released pending further enquiries.
This second charge follows police searches at five properties on Monday 14 February, including two residential addresses in Craigieburn and three business premises in Campbellfield.
Investigators seized approximately 100kg of commercial fireworks, prohibited weapons, a quantity of drugs, a quantity of cash, and a motorbike.
A 37-year-old Craigieburn man was charged on Monday with a number of offences including possess explosives.
He was bailed to face Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 2 September.
