Second man charged as part of ongoing investigations into criminal syndicate, NSW

A man will face court today charged as part of an ongoing investigation into drug supply, money laundering and other illicit activities by criminal networks in Sydney’s south west.

In November last year, the State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Squad, assisted by NSW Crime

Commission and South West Region Enforcement Squad (RES), established Strike Force Calero to investigate a criminal syndicate operating in south-west Sydney.

As part of ongoing investigations, detectives stopped a vehicle on the corner of Kalang Road and Lansbury Road, Edensor Park, about 6.30pm on Wednesday 2 December 2020, and spoke with the two occupants.

The 35-year-old male driver was arrested and charged with supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity). He is next due to appear in court next Friday (29 January 2021).

About 8.15am yesterday (Friday 22 January 2020), strike force investigators, assisted by Bass Hill RES, executed a search warrant at a home on Kingsford Smith Avenue, Middleton Grange.

Officers seized cash, cannabis and multiple mobile phones, which will undergo forensic examination.

A 38-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity).

Police will allege in court that the man was involved in the large-scale distribution of cocaine across Sydney.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 23 January 2021).

Investigations under Strike Force Calero are continuing.
