Second man charged over aggravated car-jacking, NSW

A second man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged aggravated robbery in the state’s north-west last month.

Just after midnight on Sunday 20 September 2020, two women – aged 53 and 55 – were sitting in a Mercedes Coupe on Darling Street, Bourke, when they were approached by a group of males.

The group threatened the women with a knife, before gaining access to the vehicle.

The women managed to flee, and the group was seen leaving the area in the Mercedes, which also contained their personal belongings.

Detectives attached to Central North Police District established Strike Force Doak to investigate the incident.

As part of their inquiries, officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District charged a 24-year-old man last month. He remains before the courts.

Following further inquiries, a 21-year-old man from Enngonia, was arrested at a unit on Amber Court, Dubbo, about 8pm on Saturday (3 October 2020).

He was taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with aggravated robbery and be carried in a conveyance taken without consent of the owner.

The man was refused bail and will next appear before Dubbo Local Court today (Tuesday 6 October 2020).

Inquiries are continuing and further arrests are expected.
