Second man charged over Mt Pritchard murder, NSW

A second man has been charged by Homicide Squad detectives following an investigation into the death of another man in Sydney’s south west last year.

Emergency services were called to a home on Young Street, Mt Pritchard, about 7.50am on Wednesday 30 October 2019, after reports of a disturbance earlier in the morning.

Officers found the body of 35-year-old resident, Tuan Tran, in the backyard of the home. He had suffered head injuries and lacerations.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad and Fairfield City Police Area Command established Strike Force Hedland to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

Strike force investigators arrested and charged a 39-year-old man last week. He remains before the courts.

Following further inquiries, a 43-year-old man was transported from a correctional facility at Parklea to Riverstone Police Station about 10am yesterday (Wednesday 3 June 2020).

He was arrested and charged with murder and special aggravated break, enter and commit serious indictable offence.

Police will allege in court that the 43-year-old was involved in the armed home invasion that resulted in Tuan Tran’s death.

He was refused bail to appear via video link at Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 4 June 2020).

Investigations under Strike Force Hedland continue.
