Homicide Squad detectives have charged a second man with murder as inquiries continue into the fatal stabbing of another man in Sydney’s west earlier this year.
About 8am on Thursday 24 September 2020, emergency services were called to a reserve on Russell Street at Emu Plains, after the body of a man had been located.
He has since been formally identified as a 22-year-old Minchinbury man.
A vehicle found crashed nearby was seized for forensic examination.
Detectives from Nepean Police Area Command and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad established Strike Force Mathinna to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
So far during the investigation, three men – aged 21, 22 and 26 – were arrested.
They were all charged over their alleged roles in the incident and remain before the courts.
As inquiries continue, a 25-year-old man attended Mt Druitt Police Station about 7pm yesterday (Thursday 12 November 2020).
He was arrested and charged with murder.
The man was refused bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court today (Friday 13 November 2020).
Investigations under Strike Force Mathinna are continuing.
