A second person has been charged following investigation into a shooting in Sydney’s west on Sunday.
About 11pm (Saturday 31 July 2021), emergency services were called to a home on Lawson Street, Lalor Park, following reports a man had been shot.
Officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command attended and found a 27-year-old man with a wound to his right foot.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital, where he underwent surgery. The man’s injuries are not considered life-threatening and he remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Police spoke with a man and woman at the scene and were told a third man fled on foot.
A crime scene was established, and police commenced a canvas of the surrounding area with assistance from the Dog Unit and PolAir. The man was not located.
A second crime scene was established at a home on Mitchell Street after a firearm was located behind a shed.
Following inquiries, a 27-year-old woman from Blackett was arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station where she was charged with possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority and hinder investigation serious indictable offence of other.
Police will allege in court that the woman was found concealing a discarded firearm magazine.
She was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday 1 August 2021, where she was given conditional bail to appear at the same court on Thursday 5 August 2021.
Following further investigations, on Monday 2 August 2021, officers attached to Blacktown Criminal Investigations Team and North West Met Operations Support Group attended a unit on Botany
Boulevard, Kings Langley, and arrested a 27-year-old man.
He was taken to Blacktown Police Station, where he was charged with reckless wounding, possess unregistered firearm – prohibited firearm, possess shortened firearm (not pistol) w/o authority, possess ammunition w/o holding licence/permit/authority, fire firearm manner likely injure persons/property, possess unregistered firearm in public place and breaching the Public Health Orders (x 2).
The man was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 3 August 2021).
