See Starry Night any time of day or night

TEBBUTTStarry Night, the Hawkesbury Regional Museum’s latest free exhibition, is now open and available 24 hours a day online at www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au/museum/exhibitions/online-exhibitions

The new online exhibition is about the life and achievements of the renowned 19th century astronomer, John Tebbutt. After discovering the Great Comet of 1861 at the age of 26, he quickly achieved international recognition and was widely considered the foremost astronomer in Australia, carrying out an impressive range of astronomical observations and authoring almost 400 publications, all from his observatories located in Windsor, NSW.

Learn about the history of John Tebbutt and his work through objects and images, interviews with family members and experts (find out why he turned down the offer to become the NSW Government Astronomer) and experience a virtual tour through his observatories.

A free curator talk will be held on Monday, 26 June at 10am at the Museum. Curator Kelsey McMorrow will discuss the history behind one of Australia’s most renowned astronomers and guide you through the online exhibition. Bookings essential via Eventbrite https://hawkesburymuseum.eventbrite.com
