The Cook Labor Government is celebrating National Science Week with several events taking place across the State with this year’s theme ‘Seeds of Science: Nurturing knowledge for all’.
Running from 15-23 August, National Science Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of STEM.
Now in its 29th year, National Science Week is an Australian Government initiative delivered through Inspiring Australia, providing opportunities for all Western Australians to explore and celebrate science by taking part in science activities, in-person and online events, talks, podcasts, at-home activities and competitions.
This year there are dozens of events and activities planned, ranging from the Hidden Life of Seeds self-guided tours at Kings Park, to the Biggest Science Lab Ever exhibit at the WA Museum Boola Bardip, to space events and environmental studies, citizen science events and hands-on family activities.
Across WA, National Science Week is co-ordinated by the Western Australian Coordinating Committee, which this year distributed $90,000 in grants to 23 organisations to support community science events State-wide.
Western Australians are also being encouraged to have their say by voting for the People’s Choice Award in the 2026 Premier’s Science Awards.

“Let this year’s National Science Week inspire us all to be curious, ask questions and seek opportunities, because you never know what you might discover in STEM.”
