It’s not too late to nominate your favourite nurse or midwife for an excellence award.
Western Australia’s annual Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards recognise the work of nurses and midwives – whether they are working in a public, private, non-government, hospital or community health service.
WA Health Department’s Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer Robina Redknap urged the community and healthcare workers to take time to nominate a nurse or midwife whose care may have made a difference to their lives.
She said there were more than 39,000 nurses and midwives working across the State in a diverse range of sectors and settings.
“Nurses and midwives are the backbone of WA’s health system — working tirelessly on a daily basis to help their community,” said Dr Redknap.
“These annual industry awards recognise their efforts, help raise the profile of the nursing and midwifery professions in the community and recognise the key role they play in our health services.”
Colleagues can nominate an outstanding nurse or midwife for one or more of 11 different categories, from excellence in enrolled and registered nursing to excellence in rural and remote health, education and residential care.
A consumer appreciation award provides patients, clients or support persons with an opportunity to acknowledge the nurse or midwife who cared for them, a family member or friend.
Award winners will be announced in May 2020 along with the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Honour – acknowledging a nurse or midwife who has made a significant contribution to their profession throughout their career.
