Seniors Week, which runs from the 11th-21st of March, is a special time dedicated to highlighting our older residents and celebrating why they make such extraordinary companions.

Older pets make wonderful companions, they’re typically calm, gentle, and enjoy spending time with the family. Compared to younger animals, senior pets tend to be more relaxed and less energetic, making them ideal companions for households seeking a more laid-back furry friend.

Regardless of their journey into care, all older pets seek the same thing: a safe, nurturing home and someone to love them for who they are.

RSPCA NSW offers a 50% discount on pets for Senior Card holders if they adopt one of our ‘golden oldie’ animals – those are dogs and cats aged over eight years old.

While they may not be a plucky puppy or kitten, golden oldies are in the prime of their life. These animals still have so much love and friendship to give to a new owner, and in many cases, will fit right into their new forever home with minimal adjustment. With an older animal, what you see is what you get!

Along with the reduced adoption fee, the Seniors for Seniors promotions comes with access to our Home Ever After (HEA) program. HEA is a tailored, future care plan for pets, should something happen to their owner. You can find out more information about HEA here.

In addition, all RSPCA NSW veterinary hospitals offer a 10% discount on veterinary services for Seniors Card holders.

If you’re interested in bringing an older animal home, please click the button below to search for a senior pet. If there are no animals available for adoption at your local shelter, please try searching across the state. Alternatively, you can head into one of our shelters and chat to a friendly Customer Service Officer about adoption.

Please note that this offer is available at all RSPCA NSW shelters. It is not available at RSPCA NSW Volunteer Branches or Petbarn adoption locations.
