Serious assault and burglaries at Beenleigh

A 17-year-old boy has been charged following a series of alleged burglaries and the serious assault of a man at Beenleigh overnight.

Just before 7pm, the boy approached a Church Street residence and allegedly forced entry. Once inside, it’s alleged he held a knife to another 17-year-old boy’s throat while demanding property.

He left the residence after allegedly stealing several items from the house.

Shortly after 7pm, the teenager approached a resident in the yard of a Saratoga Street property and allegedly demanded the keys to a 23-year-old man’s car. The man refused and retreated inside his house.

After leaving the area, the teenager approached another house on Narraport Crescent where he allegedly confronted a 51-year-old male resident, demanded the keys to his car and forced entry to his house when the man refused.

A scuffle has taken place inside where the teenager allegedly stabbed the man in the neck, taken his keys and left the residence driving the man’s car.

Polair assisted police in tracking the vehicle before a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed on Bardon Road at Logan Central, just before 8pm.

A short foot pursuit took place before the teenager was taken into custody.

The 51-year-old Narraport Crescent resident was transported to hospital in a critical condition. The other two residents were not physically injured.

The 17-year-old boy has been charged with attempt to murder, attempted burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He has also been charged with two counts of armed robbery and burglary.

He is due to appear in Beenleigh Children’s Court this month.
