Serious single Vehicle Collision – Huon Road Fern Tree 19/07/2020

At approximately 1.05am on Saturday the 19th of July, 2020 a single vehicle crash occurred outside 652 Huon Road Fern Tree.

The vehicle involved was a red Holden Commodore utility being driven by an 18 year old man from Grove. The vehicle was travelling south when the driver failed to negotiate a right hand bend. The vehicle collided with trees on the edge of the south bound lane.

At the time of the crash there were two passengers in the vehicle, an 18 year old man from Mountain River and a 19 year old woman from Sandford. As a result of the crash the female was ejected through the windscreen. She is currently in the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious condition. The driver and male passenger have also been detained in Hospital. Their injuries are reported as non-life threatening.

Road and weather conditions are not a factor in this crash. Investigations are continuing regarding the circumstances surrounding the crash. Police have asked for any witnesses to the crash or any person who has CCTV camera footage for Huon Road to contact Police.
