Serious wounding at Roma

Police have charged a teenager following the serious wounding of a man in Roma this afternoon.

At 3.20pm, a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were involved in a physical altercation along Conroy Street in Roma.

Police will allege during the altercation, the 16-year-old boy has stabbed the 19-year-old man in the chest multiple times before leaving the scene.

The 19-year-old man was driven by someone he knew to Roma Hospital before being airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane for further treatment.

Police located the 16-year-old boy at 4.20pm at the intersection of Major and McDowell Streets where he was taken into custody.

The boy has been charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm and possessing a knife in a public place.

The 19-year-old man remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.
