Services Australia Podcast: Coronavirus conversations – changes to JobSeeker and JobKeeper

In April, the government introduced the Coronavirus Supplement and JobKeeper Payments to help support Australians through the coronavirus pandemic. Both of these changes were due to end in late September.

In July, the government announced that both payments were going to be extended, but they would change.

In this episode of the Cornavirus Conversations, Services Australia General Manager Hank Jongen speaks with Justin Bott from the Financial Information Service about how the payments have changed. They look at what’s different and what your options may be.

“With the changes to JobKeeper Payment and JobSeeker Payments’ income test, there may be people who haven’t applied for JobSeeker Payment who might become eligible,” said Hank. “We want to make sure everyone is able to claim what their entitled to.”

With people able to start a claim for JobSeeker Payment up to 13 weeks before the date they know they’ll be eligible, now is a good time to start taking action.

“In our latest podcast, we talk about the new eligibility rules for JobSeeker Payment,” said Hank. “Justin goes through the changes and helps listeners work out where they could go to get some help they may need.”
