Seventh person charged over fatal assault at Doonside, NSW

A seventh person has been charged as investigations continue into the fatal assault of a teenage boy in Sydney’s west in August.

Strike Force Brens was established to investigate the murder of a 16-year-old boy in Doonside on Wednesday 4 August 2021.

About 5.40pm, the boy was found unresponsive with injuries to his head and chest at a home on Perigee Close. He was taken to Westmead Hospital, where he later died.

Four boys – aged 14, 15 and two aged 13 – as well as a 15-year-old girl and 19-year-old woman have since been charged and remain before the courts.

As part of their inquiries, officers from Blacktown Police Area Command arrested a 29-year-old man at a home on Railway Street, Werrington, about 11.45am yesterday (Thursday 7 October 2021).

He was taken to Blacktown Police Station, where he was charged with accessory after the fact to an offence – murder, and resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty.

The man was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court today (Friday 8 October 2021).

As investigations continue, police have also released CCTV vision of a man on Perigee Close, Doonside, around the time of the incident, who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man is described as being of medium build, with brown shoulder length hair and was wearing a dark t-shirt, light coloured pants, and dark coloured running shoes.
